Pre-War Prescott
Garden Party and Hill Climb Day

Saturday 21st July, 2012

Latest Event News

21st May 2012  Pre-War Prescott is just two months today!  If you have not sent in your entry yet, now would be a good time to do so because climbs are filling up fast, and we also need to give the caterers estimated numbers for the daytime catering and evening BBQ.  You can enter online - just click the Online Entry Form tab above.  Thanks for supporting Pre-War Prescott!
16th May 2012  Publicity for Pre-War Prescott is ramping up and entries are flowing in.  Look out for our half-page advert in The Automobile being published tomorrow as well as an Editorial mention.  We thank the staff at The Automobile for being extremely supportive of Pre-War Prescott.  Just a reminder for those wishing to come along and spectate in a post-war car - entry is just ten pounds per car, which is extremely good value, and there will be plenty of spare seats of you want to hitch a ride up the hill!
14th May 2012  Big news this morning!  As mentioned elsewhere, Pre-War Prescott forms just a part of a vintage weekend in the Cotswolds and we have a Navigation Rally and parallel Scenic Tour on Sunday, to which everyone is very welcome to join in.  This year, the route will be taking us to the south - down towards the old RAF Kemble.  We are very excited to announce that we will gather there during the day, along with a collection of vintage aircraft that will be offering pleasure flights to the pre-war car crews with all proceeds going to our designated charity - the RAF Charitable Trust.  We are therefore particularly keen to hear from pilots who would be interested in dropping in to give a few charity flights during the day for an extremely good cause.  If the formula for the day is a success, it is hoped that this Charity fly-in and pre-war car gathering will become firmly established as the Sunday event following Pre-War Prescott.  We would like to extend a BIG thank you to the operators of Cotswold Airport (as Kemble is now known) for providing us with this super opportunity to bring vintage aircraft and cars together.
30th April 2012  The latest trader to sign up for Pre-War Prescott is Barry Walker.  Barry will need no introduction to the MG fraternity.  He will be bringing a large supply of pre-war MG goodies with him.   We have plenty of space for more trade and autojumble stalls if you would like to join us.
24th April 2012  Planning for the big day is marching ahead and entries are now flowing in, including some fascinating and historic cars.  Today we received the splendid news that Air Vice Marshal Rick Charles, one of the Trustees of the RAF Charitable Trust will be our guest on the day, and Air Commodore Tim Winstanley, the new Trust Director will also be joining us.  Last year, we were able to make a modest donation to the Trust, but this year we very much hope to make a larger donation and further cement our relationship with the Trust.  To that end, we will be donating ALL climb takings after the first 400 climbs of the day to the Trust along with 100% of the proceeds from the no-reserve auction to be held during the lunch break by our very good friends at Hereford Vintage Auctions who are providing porters and an auctioneer for the day.  So if you have any automobilia or suitable spares surplus to requirements, please do bring them along and help us support this highly worthy cause.
20th March 2012  Today, we received a letter from the RAF Events Team at RAF Northolt, bringing the splendid news that we have been allocated a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire display for our Summer Rally.  Last year, we were extremely lucky to have the BBMF Lancaster, the arrival of which was undoubtedly the highlight of the day.  The appearance of a Spit over Pre-War Prescott this year will no doubt be an eqally heart-stirring moment not to be missed.
12th March 2012  Plenty of great news as planning really gets into gear for the second Pre-War Prescott.  First and foremost, we are delighted to announce that, once again, the SU Carburetter Company is stepping up to be the main sponsors of the event.  Last year, the SU guys did us proud - bringing along their period trade stand, the Skinner Triangle Special and a clutch of superb trophies.  And they are set to do the same again this year.   For the first time this year, Motor Wheel Services will be bringing their mobile tyre changing operation to Pre-War Prescott, so if you are in need of any tyres, do contact them before the event in order to ensure that they can bring your tyres and fit them in the Paddock for you.  A number of one-make clubs and registers are holding gatherings at Pre-War Prescott, and a prestigious new award will be presented to the best participating club - not the club with the largest number of cars present, but the club that most enters into the pre-war spirit of the day.  In the evening, we will be holding our BBQ on the hill again, and this year we will be entertained by Fiona Harrison, Britain's foremost forties singer and entertainer.

It should not be forgotten that Pre-War Prescott is hosted and organized by the Vintage Minor Register, and Pre-War Prescott is but a part of their Summer Rally weekend.  On Sunday, they run a parallel Navigation Rally and Scenic Tour around the Cotswolds and all Pre-War Prescott entrants are warmly invited to enter either Sunday event.  Finally, we can announce that Sports & Vintage Motors is not only sponsoring the event this year, but Mike Dowley is also planning to bring their trade stand of MMM goodies - provided that their lorry fits under the railway bridge along the lane from Prescott!
23rd January 2012  Traders are invited to participate in Pre-War Prescott 2012.  Last year, there were about a dozen trade stands and all did brisk business.  This year, we plan to double that number, and we have plenty of space in the Paddock for stands and stalls.  Please contact us for details if you would like to attend.
22nd January 2012  Entries are starting to arrive and a number of clubs and registers are planning to meet at Prescott on the day.  For clubs and registers that would like to do this, we can allocate an area of the Paddock to gather your members, and where you will be free to organise your own gathering, including club tent, spares stalls, etc. within the larger event.  This gives clubs the huge benefit of being able to hold an event at Prescott and take advantage of the hill and all the activities of the day without the burden of having to hire the hill by themselves.  If you would like your club to consider holding a gathering at Pre-War Prescott, then please put your Committee in touch with us and we will provide full details and support.

In other news, we are delighted to announce that the RAF Charitable Trust will once again be the nominated Pre-War Prescott charity.  A donation of 400 pounds was made in 2011, and this year we want to make a much bigger donation to this highly worthy cause.  In order to do this, we will once again be offering  ALL of the proceeds from every climb after the first 400, but we are also planning a no-reserve auction of spares and automobilia during the lunch break.  Managed by our good friends and supporters at Hereford Vintage Auctions, we are inviting donations of suitable items and all of the proceeds of the auction will be donated to the Trust.  So if you plan to attend Pre-War Prescott 2012, pleased bring along one or two surplus items that might help us make a significant donation on the day.
11th January 2012  Welcome to Pre-War Prescott 2012!  Planning is well advanced for the 2012 event - to be held on Saturday 21st July.  The inaugural event in 2011 was a resounding success and plans for 2012 call for a greatly expanded event with more clubs participating and many more activities during the day.  Entries are already arriving, and the online entry form will be updated in the next few days (see the tab above left).  Once again the event is being generously sponsored by the SU Carburetter Company, and this year have engaged Fiona Harrison - Britain's finest professional forties singer to entertain us at the Forties Night in the evening.  (Professional images of the 2011 event may be found here, here, here, here, here and on YouTube here.)
